Many people have asked me which weight is best for either themselves or a child so I thought I would write a short explanation for everyone.

It is mostly up to personal preference. The rules for weighted soft toys are that they are not suitable at all for children aged 0 to 3 years old. This is because of the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome).

I suggest a 3lb teddy for children who would just find this weight easier to carry around, age 4 to 8, but that is just a suggestion.

The easiest way I have found to envisage the weight is to hold some tins of beans! Each tin weights 1lb so… would you or your child prefer a teddy that weighs 3 tins or 4?
